Harish Bhat just finished this enjoyable read. You had shared many of these stories on LinkedIn earlier. Being alumni of Tisco n now, Tata steel could easily connect with many timeless tales.
Few were not so known like the one important contribution made by Tata as a Group in initiating n sponsoring excavation to ascertain the shades of the Maurya dynasty in Patliputra n now Patna. After spending 16 years in Tata steel, I was expecting few more pages on legendary late Russi Modi, chairman cum MD of erstwhile Tisco.
Like many Tata group companies, Tata Steel has contributed wholesomely to child education, health, n tribal welfare, all for nation-building in and around Jamshedpur. Then another Highly successful CEO, the late Ajit Kerkar, was known as CZAR of Taj group of hotels…. played a hugely significant inning in expanding n strengthening the brand equity of Taj, did not find a mention in your book..surprising one!
JRD’s exceptional knack in selecting and grooming leaders into an institution like Russi Modi, Darbari Seth n Ajit Kerkar n many more was an exceptional talent embedded into him, a lot to learn n reflect!! Undoubtedly, as I have mentioned at the start, it has been an enjoyable read, reflecting Tata’s belief in education, health, and sectors that have a high impact on nation-building like Aviation, Atomic energy, research.
Thanks for penning down lucid stories around Tata’s ethos, culture, a commitment…engrossing one!!
